"The man is a success who has lived well, loved much, and laughed often." — Robert Louis Stevenson. To Mrs. Betty Cuba and Family On behalf of the class of 1958 of the Hawkins Colored High School, It is with great sadness that we mourn the death of one of its most widely and highly respected members, Hardy Lawrence Cuba. Hardy was the last living male member of our class and he will always be remembered for his broad smile and hearty laugh. None of us will forget those moments when he dribbled down the court as a great basketball player. None of us will ever forget seeing him as a leader of the N. F. A. (New Farmers of America), Nor will we forget those moments when his eyes welled up as he sang in the school chorus. Hardy participated in all Vocational and Educational activities. Hardy, was a helpful guy he was always happy to share his experience with others while quietly assist the elderly in his community. Hardy was always professional yet approachable so you felt that you could talk to him about anything. Finally, we leave you with this scripture, Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Sincerely, Gloria Jobe Cohen, and Fellow Classmates of 1958.
